TF North’s Avery Taylor is the WFF’s February Athlete of the Month for his outstanding track & field performances. Hurdles – 7.82 55 M. and 8.45 in 60 M./ High Jump 6’ 6” / Triple Jump 43’ 6” and 3rd leg on 1:35 4x200 Relay Team.
North Lawndale’s Gabby DesRosiers is the WFF’s February Athlete of the Month. Gabby has dominated the girl’s sprints all winter with these top performances: 60 m. 7.92 / 200 m. 24.69 and 400 m. 57.73.
Hillcrest’s Luther competed in three field events and finished March with personal best performances near the best in the State. High Jump 6’ 4”, Long Jump 21’ 8.5” and Triple Jump 47’ 8”.
Brook’s Academy, Imani, has been named the WFF’s March Athlete of the Month for her outstanding performances on the track and in the field. She ran 7.85 in the 60 M. Dash, 8.85 in the 60 M. Hurdles, participated on the Brooks 4x200 Relay (1:47.82) and recorded a 19’ 3.75” Long Jump.
On 10/22, Whitney Young’s Keduse Worku lead his team to the Regional Championshp by becoming the Individual champion covering the 3 mile course in 15:21. On 10/29, the Dolphin Senior lead his team to Sectional Championship with a 8th place finish in 15:25 . A week later, Worku earned All-State Honors by placing 22nd at the State Meet in 14:47 and again lead the Whitney Young pack to a 5th place team finish.
Lane Tech’s Maggie Scholle won the 10/22 St. Ignatius Regional Cross Country Meet, covering the 3 mile course in 19:16. On 10/29 the LT Senior placed 12th at the Niles West Sectional in 18:35 and a week later at the State Meet she finished 57th in 17:53. Congrats Maggie!
